i like to use the nylon leads with a heavy brass snap at each end and the ring. i have a fiest squirrel dog and i want to use the same type lead. it doesnt work to well to use 5 lbs of chain on a 15 lb dog.
anyone know where i can get a lighter weight version of the same lead?

Do that and u can get the lighter weight choke chains and use them for the chain. Have a couple like that and are nice

I like to make my own as well. I use a good 3/8 nylon rope and goto tractor supply/homedepot/local hardware store and get the size chain in the length you want.

Go to tractor supply buy there double ply nylon leads, a one inch welded ring, and a matching easy snap. Cut the handle end with a box cutter slip the tree ring down the lead and put the snap in the handle. Take it to a shoe, or a boot and saddle repair shop. They will resew it back in place for a few dollars. I have four. Plus cable leads. Sidney.
