Back in the 80s my family and I lived back in a palmeto bottom on the county line. I was working contruction 4 days a week and cowboyin 3. My son was about 10 years old. I got home one evening and he came running out of house asking if we where going to go catch a pig this evening. I told him to go ask your mother if it was ok for you to go.Really I was getting the ok for my self He came running back out of house, Just like a cur puppy he ran every where he went
.I told him to go pour old Astro a little feed, and I would be back out in a minute and you can help me load dogs. Well I stayed in the house a little longer than what he thought I should have. Was talking about the whys and why nots of hog hunting with his mother.
I went out the back door of the house headed to the barn.( The whys and why nots will be picked up later). I saw my son come running up to me from the pasture with his shirt and blue jeans dang near tore off him. He was crying and saying that he was sorry that he didnt mean to.About that time I heard every dog I had baying down at the pig pen. When my son and I got there 2 dogs where in the pen and had my little sow down and two dogs that where snap together where baying on the out side of the pen.
I asked him what the heck had happen and he told me that he tought he was big enough to load the dogs by his self. And snapped 2 dogs dogs together like he has seen me do.Well when he opened the gate to the dog pen they took off and jurked him down and took him under the barbed wire fence. And the rest of the pack was in hot pursute.
We got every thing lined out and went hunting any way.Cant rememmber if we got a hog or not but he and I had a good time

That is great. I love it when my sons do crazy stuff too. When I am mad and just want to laugh at the same time. But your boy did catch a pig that day before he even loaded one dog.

I can relate to that story. Coz it seems everytime something goes wrong, I am saying, well I thought? lol But my daddy always taught us to make decisions and do our best and no one can fault you for that. It is good to see a youngin wanting to go that bad and is willing to help.

Great story Mr Ronnie! Sure has me thinking about my boy and our hunts together. He has only been away at school less than 3 weeks and I miss him dearly! It sure makes my heart go out to those with sons and daughters at war right now! I cant even imagine!
