Here are some picture of some cattle that we rotated here the other day!! These cattle were a cross that the man started in the 60's they were Red Braman-Red Angus-Red Limisoin-Red Short Horn!!After makeing the cross with those breeds and getting what he wanted he never brought another bull in to the place he keep his own sice 1975!! Two years ago the family decided to bring in some fresh bulls the reason WHY is because of inbreeding!!There were calves being born with bob tails and extra tabs on there ears!!A&M told them to get fresh bulls!!Nothing wrong with line breeding but inbreed is inbreed!!They bought 50 head of red angus bulls!!There are only 25 left the rest died just could not hang with this country and these people got the grass!!The red angus bulls will just stand under a tree and pant!!There are over 1000 head of cattle on this place and some real good cows!!Hopefully they will bring some red brahman back to the herd!!Picking them angus bulls up is not nearly the fun it was with Brahman influenced bulls!!We drive these cattle several miles down the roads and rotate pastures!!Here are a few pictures!!
First is Heifers from 2009!!

These were some older cows in this pictures!!All Dry because them angus bulls were not doing there jobs!!150 head!!

Chance-Thats the exact reason I'm moving in the direction I am with the King Ranch bull. King ranch is 55 feet above sea level. Im at 85. I don't  think my steer calves will bring top dollar at the sale, But my replacement heifers should have the heat tolorance. I hope to buy another bull in the spring.

Chance,

I was doing some reading about this ranch.  It was described that they have their own breed, "the BD Breed" considered a variation of Red Angus.   Some pretty neat history goes along with the ranch too.

Yes the ranch has lots of history to it!!Gov. Bill could sure tell some stories but one of the best I will never forget is the brahman bull!!He introduced severl farm animails to Guam!!They put a braman bull and a donkey on an air plane he said the bull went crazy in the air and they open the door and the bull and donkey bothed jumped out of the air plane over the ocean!!That is one of my favorite stories!!
Them cows look more Gert's than angus lots of black eyes and long ears!!The angus they added 2 years ago knocked alot of the ear off!!
