We went Saturday night and as lately we just cannot get anything stopped  Angry  These hogs know our truck and one of the guys that was with us had a dog that just couldnt keep his mouth shut ... as well as our mouthy catch dog who forgot his manners and wasnt paying any mind to the shock collar (guess he just wanted to catch a hog as bad as we do).

We jumped a few but they made it to the point of no stopping and were gone!  The hogs have started moving during the heat of the day and one of the guys that hunts a grove next to our cane fields said they are slap tore up with hogs but they are just running them ....    maybe they will run them back our way  so we can catch them! Cheesy

We have been taking the puppies here lately and Little Nitro the black/tan pup went into the cane with the big dogs, we upgraded to the garmin about two years ago so we have tons of the old telemetry collars that the puppies wear just in case they get seperated and cant find their way back.

Charlie and Forrest took off about 1,000 yards staying gone for about 45 minutes or so only to come back empty handed with no hog and no Little Nitro  :'(  We got signal on him but it was pulling off one of the other collars in the ttruck and kept leading us back to the ditch - first thought was oh no gator....it was 6 o'clock am and he wasnt coming to us calling him which wasnt normal.

The people with us had to get home so we come back and drop them off/unload the dogs.   So we take them home and unload the other dogs.  The husband goes back over and looks all day long with no luck and now no signal so by then someone had to off picked him up Sad  My husband calls the man that lives there as well as a few others including a Game Warden to let them know our pup had gone missing.

Today we get the call, Little Nitro has been found and is in Labelle.  The original story was the puppy had traveled 35 miles and they picked him up just before town, one man took the dog and the other took the telemetry collar to use as his own.

I am not sure exactly what made them call and ask about the dog but needless to say we are getting our puppy and traccking collar back but now the story is they were coming from deer hunting and picked him up at the higway about 4 miles from where we were hunting.

I am relieved that we are getttng him back and that the man called but I am also mad as heck that they were contemplating keeping both the dog and collar ... although honesty goes a long way and it may/may not help - they will all have name plates by this weekend!

You see that is the kinda crap that I hate. Same happened to me this spring but my dog had a name plate and the sorry sob that ended up with her never called and even hunted her the 2 nights he had her. If you see a dog that is a hunting dog and it has a tracking collar leave it alone, someone is looking/tracking it, dont pick it up and take it home. Glad you are getting you pup and equipment back, you got lucky this time probilly wont turn out like that again. My faith in honest people is just about shot, Its very sad. Sad

Thanks for the offer but the man who gave him to us is supposed to be picking him up now that he has been tracked down.

I agree SFBB that atleast he will get out there and he is following suit of the rest of them as far as not listening when they are doing their business lol because he has never hesitated to come when called!

It is irritating that someone would do what they did, we always make due dilligence to make sure a found dog makes it back to where it belongs WITH all their accessories!  It stinks that honesty doesnt prevail these days, especially since the surrounding couties are so small and I can almost bet that we would have found him eventually .... we have contemplated on freeze branding our dogs and this is just one more notch in the board of reasons.

Glad you got your pup back and collar. we had that happen with a gyp two years ago, someone put her in a dog box and when they tried to remove the tracking collar, she probably bit them (a usual response, not many can put hands on her) and we finally tracked her 5 hours later in a subdivision with her head all scratched up.

I lost my old dog one day and tracked him to a barn, found him tied up in the barn with no tracking collar and no regular collar, got to looking closer and it showed the collar in the house so I got my dog and Phillip went to investigate the collar ussue. Turned out it was some old lady that took the collars off to see if she could find a phone number, we were fortunate and sounds like you were too!  Glad to hear it

Glad you got your pup back.  I had some poachers pick up a yellow gyp of mine and put her on a lead as they were trying to make their way off my property.  Too bad (for them) they didn't turn off the collar because I tracked right to them.  Needless to say, it was on when we showed up.  Some people...... Sad
