well went out yesterday evening with my cuss Jason to hunt some woods he has and deiced to take my Ridgeback out cause the other dogs were hurt.. now my Ridge has not been out in about 6 months but i couldn't resist the temp to take him out... we got out to where we were going and letm loose.. Duke(ridgebac) went out with Brume(plot) and with in about 10 minutes was on a hog... Jason cut the other dogs loose and we had us a baying on ... when i got there my rcd (ab/cat) and Jason's yeller dog had the hog caught brume had a holt of his ribs, but no duke.. don't no if i should have grabbed him or not but i grabbed this ol hogs back leg and all the dogs let go and left me with one leg.. That ol hog went to turning trying to get me and then just went to dragn me to d woods. Jason was on his way but i couldn't hold him any more and he got away.. found duke with a hole in his belly and something hanging out. took him to the vet to get all fixed up hope he will be ok.. all and all not a good hunt and i think i should have just shot that pig instead of trying to grab him..

sounds like you did what your supposed to do,leg the hog..but also sounds like the dog with the hole quit on you, then the other 2 quit on you also.

i would be looking for some dogs with big bawls, never ever should they let go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few grains of lead would have made this a much better hunt.......hope your dog heals up just fine.
