I found this ad on Craigs list and called the number and talked with the woman that found this dog.  It is located in Bryan Texas of Sandy Point Road.  They are trying very hard to locate the owner for the dog so they do not have to called the animal shelter where it will be put down.  She will be calling me in the morning if nobody has claimed this dog and I will kennel it at my kennels until the owner is found.  We just need to get it out of that town.  IF anyone knows of a hunter that has lost their dog in the Bryan College Station area please have them call that woman.

My husband and I have this dog now.  When we got it, it was in poor health.  He is now happy and on the way to a healthy life.  I want to thank everyone for looking at the original post and would also like to ask that everyone that hunts with dogs, please take the extra time to mark the cut collars or vest with a name of the owner in order for the dogs to get returned.  If we had not gone and picked up this guy he would have for sure ended up at the humane society in that county and it means automatic death for that breed of dog.

Thank you,

Robin Borden

Very good deed ya'll have done, I would keep the dog if it were me, For someone who doesn't care enough about their dog, not  to  have a tracking collar or name plate it makes me sick, If a person cant have one or the other on their dog ...then to me they dont need to be hunting I KNOW the dogs has a better life with ya'll  Good job again .......W.D..............

Liability my foot, if its my dog, I'll take the good with the bad. If I can't get a comfortable handle on a catch dog I'll find one that obeys.  Good job y'all and thanks for sticking your neck out for that pit.

Well we have decided that we are keeping this dog.  He is awesome, get's along well with everyone and we are getting him to start putting some weight back on.  I decided that if whoever had him did not care enough for him to tag him or something then they don't deserve him.  So we have named him Split because of one of his ears being split.  Can't wait to see what he can do.  We will keep all posted.

Thanks,

Doesn't sound right to me.  Just cause a dog doesn't have a name on it means the owner doesn't care about it?  Most of my dogs don't have names on them, it doesn't mean I don't want them.

I grab a Sharpie and write my number on all my cut gear. I write it so it can be seen from a few feet away because I got a dog that won't go to some people. But I would not say someone does not care about their dog if they do it different. But I would not say they care about their dog either. Just dealt with someone today that judged me without knowing me. She will be looking for a new job. If I lost a dog I would hope someone was taking care of my dog like you are doing.

Maybe they cared about the dog, but maybe they did not call animal shelters, put up signs and continue looking for the dog figuring it would show back up. Either way had it been to the animal shelter it would be dead now, would matter if they care or not.
I have some comfort knowing that if my dog was unable to be found that someone would take the time to give it a chance knowing it was another hunters dog, just because even if we don't know each other, we all atleast share a mutal bond of interest, as hunters of dogs.

Dogs have a funny way of knowing when they've gone from a bad situation to a good one.  They usually turn out the best and are loyal to you till the end.  I came across a catch dog last year that did have ID on him.  He was cut and had been roaming for a while.  Called the number and the guy didn't want him.  Wouldn't even come get him.  Last thing I needed was another catch dog, but there I went loading him in the box.  Nursed him back to health and laid the groceries to him.  He's great now and I swear he'd tell me thanks if he could talk.  Pisses me off when people don't give a s**t about a dog that gives them their all.

Good job on doing the right thing.
