My wife was giving me a hard time so I put packing blankets in the kennels for the dogs. Well only one blanket did not get ripped to shreds. I have used them when in gets cold or hay. It does not get real cold here just hits freezing a few times a year. I was wondering what else people use.

i use hay but only if it gets close to freezing which doesnt happen often. Only those freak years like last..

i use wood shavings from the local feed store....less than 6 bucks and the bag is about 4ft high....

This morning it was 21 at my house. If u can get it straw is the best to use. Grass hay can dig in to a dogs skin or eyes. I have a bulldog that will not hunt when there is snow on the ground at all.

Well, Grace has 2 carhart jackets with Sherpa lining, monogrammed of course, 10 heavy wool sweaters my momma crocheted, and sleeps on her memory foam bed with a heated blanket set on medium,  Griffin just curls up in the bed with me.  |

I just use hay and feed 3/4 of what I normally do twice aday, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon so they get 1 1/2 of what they normally do per day. Digesting food = body warmth

I went to the supply house and bought cheap light sockets, mounted them in the dog houses, and wired em up with an extension cord. Then I put 100 watt light bulbs in them. That with some cedar chips and it stays toasty in there.

I go to the gin and have a front end loader dump a bucket of cotton burrs in the truck. Nice and warm.
