i have a young mt cur thats goin 2 make a really good dog but hes open on track do any of you have any ideas on how 2 keep him from openin on track

A lot of Mt. Curs are open. Not much you can do about it ... But if you are catching hogs with him I wouldn't worry too much about it..

X2, never seen an open dog go silent, but have seen an silent dog start opening on track, not much you can do.

Some mtn curs are open on track and the more you hunt them the quieter they get and others stay open.
Some will actually run silent after they get older but will open if the hog breaks bay.
Some mtn curs are become great strike dogs that can find a hog if it is in the area. When you have a dog like this it shouldn't matter if it opens as long as it can burn up a track and put a hog on the other end,
What strain of mtn cur and what size?

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

omc an he is about 35 pounds i got him out of ok city the line of dogs he came from where squirrel dogs
