I bring some of my catahoulas to work with me everyday at my shop. One of then is my main dog he goes everywhere with me just about. The other is my parents little gyp I gave them cause she never made a good hog dog. And the last one is my fiancé dog that we got from the pound.

My male (Riggs) is always smelling around and look for these stray cats that always hide in my shop and rip number 2 up and go thru the trash and been trying to get rid of them but never try that hard. Didn't care enough. So every morning when I get the shop the dogs always go crazy cause they can smell the dang cats since that night they went thru the trash. Well this happen last week. I opened up the back door of the shop to turn a machine on and the two males always go running back there cause they no the dang cats sleep in this old jeep I got. Well this time it was different. They actually corner the cat (usually jump high on the junk back there and jumps over the fence and leaves. Well they corner is and the two were going nuts. Well the cat was able to scratch both of them but not big deal. So I went over there and pull them off and told them to knock it off. Well my parents little gyp was in the office and heard them going nuts so here she comes now fly to the back to see whats going on. Was as I got my hands full with the two males the cat takes off. Well that little gyp goes after the cat to the front shop. Well thinking then after I see her the cat go by now cause there so Many ways for it to get out of jump on things I let the males go. Were there just smelling around and so I got back to pressing some balljoints in and next thing you know I heard the little gyp howling off. So I run out there and i see the cat running. Well there the three of them chasing it. Next thing they know there in the back corner and got it caught. Well after by the time I get there (there a lot of dang cars in the way) they got that thing stretch and killed it.

Well then this last week I go hunting and I said you know I'm gonna take my parents gyp and take my fiancé dog that's never hunted before. Well let me tell dunno WTF happen but with them killing that cat not only made the gyp and the one male hunt it made my main dog even more pump up!! That night I killed to nice little boars with those three. I would have never thought it would do that to them and make them some hunting fool's!!  That gyp has never really hunted at all for me and the male from pound has never seen a hog before! It was like a complete flip of the switch and there all gritty as hell!

Has anything like this ever happen to you?

Some just start late, I use to have a pair of pointers that I hunted and breed,, the male's would stand and point a quail wing at 6 weeks ,, but my females always started late, some time they just wouldn't till a year old, there were a few I bought back or refunded for buyer's because I knew they would start late.  Good luck with them..

I have the exact same situation. Our shop is right beside the neches river though and people drop cats off down there everyday that they don't want anymore. They come straight to our shop because we have a HUGE dumpster full of food. Most of the guys that work for us bring their garbage to work and throw in our dumpster so it gets raided by coons and cats every night. My dogs get so excited when I'm 2 miles from the shop that they start whining and going crazy. They spend the entire day cat and coon hunting. In 5 years they've killed atleast 100 coons and cats out there. Whenever the dumpster is empty the coons will jump in there and can't get out and I'll throw a board in for them to climb out. It's hillarious watching my dogs. My older cur will grab them by the tail or back legs and start spinning and hit their heads on the side of the shop. It doesn't kill them but it sure is funny.
