Took four dogs out on a late hunt to a place that I was able to get 3 hogs out of the other night.  Cut em loose and right away they showed interest.  One of the dogs, Cane, takes a track .65 miles and bays up in some thick nasty brush.  One of the new dogs, Nacho, gets to the bay.  He bayed for a little and then tried to catch, heard an ugly yelp.  The rest of the dogs get there and all are baying for about 30 seconds.  The hog then charged and broke a little ways, they were able to shut him down and get him stretched out.  Nice painted boar, to far and thick to drag out.  Not the biggest, about 150lbs, but had some nice lil cutters.  Cut my Nacho dog pretty good on the upper arm also had one of his nuts hanging all the way out, I was able to push it back and put a few staples to close it up, Dont know if it is a good idea because of the swelling.  Anyone ever had to do this?  I felt bad because I had to discipline him on the way to hunt because he didnt want to shut up.  Been awhile since I got a decent one so I had to post.

nice hog!! had to staple a nut back in last summer and took him to the vet cause of redness and swelling. vet put in a few more stitches and sold me a 30 dollar cone collar but he is fine now should have skipped the vet JMO. sorry they got cut.

Nice cutters on that one.
The main concern i would have would be infection, from debris that might have got into the sack before stapleing.

just my 2 cents, you may need to reopen it sterile and clean the wound, then properly close it and monitor it, i had a similar cut from a pig that got real bad on my CD and ended up not cleanin it properly so i had to remove them

Good hog and thats a tough place to get cut.  If you cleaned it as best you could and are confident that the staples will hold, then you have a god start.  Just start him on antibiotic if you have not allready.  I've had that happen 3 times total and twice on one dog.  All 3 times I did as descrived above but added a few sutures to hold the wound closed better.  If the dog licks then you will need a cone head.
