ok iv got a 9 month old catxpit im making a strrike dog.she seen hef first hog on friday she bayed her butt off and when we let the hog break to see what she would do she slammed it in the ass and rolled the hog.but wen
we drag the pig off and tie it up somewhere its like she has no intrest in finding it unless she either sees it or if we tell her to get it.pkease help .

well she will find the pig if its with in 100 yards after that the puppy in her takes over and she losses intrest but as soon as she sees the hog bust across the pasture shes full sprint headed its way.were doing some tracking drill rigjt now to help her out.

shes the first pup iv had kill a hog in training.she killed it before i could get to her.is this a good thing or bad?

She is just a pup, She may have killed a small pig but when she gets older and gets on a rank boar or sow and it could back her down a little bit. But she is a pup give her time. JMO

whats some good ways to get her to start tracking? iv mever had this much trouble with a pup i guess iv been lucky.

I'm not sure exactly how you have been training but what I do with a pup is start out makin it as easy as possible for the pup to prevent loosin interest. For example, before you make a trail with the pig take a 5 gallon bucket of  water and soak the pig to make the scent stronger.just another idea.

ya i sprayed it with the hoose first.im lettn her bay an gettn her raoled up outside the pen and i will let the hog run about 30 yards and let her chase the hog she normally hits the hog hard.then after that when shes pumpd up i will  go hide yhe hog and let her attempt to find it

some dogs do not have that natural inclination to want to trail. This could make a good me too dog that runs with the pack or could be a RCD...

appreciate yalls help.shes real small right now.real leggy.she weights about 30 pounds.i believ my wife has a picof her on here somewhere.
