Went to the inlaws today and was shocked at the beep junk on the disney channel(think that is what it was). I don't have cable and haven't in quite some time but was shocked at the kids shows. I don't have kids but if I did and they acted like some on the shows I would beat them. I was seriously born in the wrong century. The bad part is I don't even know that I want children because of the time they will grow up in. Well had to get this off my chest was bothering me lol

They had it on the disney channel and have no clue what they were called but were kid shows on that were just flat out horrible. Kids interrupting teachers talking back being bullys etc etc etc. I understand u have to teach ur kids better but them seeing it on so called kids tv is not right in my opinion

What blows my mind is I have an 8 yr old. We were going somehwere the other day and he was watching a animated kid movie. I thought I heard it but wasn't sure. I had him rewind the movie and sure enough a curse word. For real man what is goin on in Hollywood these days. This was a G rated kido flic and they are bold enough to put curse words in em now. Sad just Sad..

One of the big reasons I had the satellite turned off. My kids read actual books now and do so of thief on free will. My grandpa always told me tv will rot your brain and I think was right. I have a buddy who's kids set in front of a tv every waking second they are not in school and it shows. Their Is a big difference in how mature my kids are and how well they cognitively follow a conversation. I do however miss football.

I got the netflix and shut all that $100 a month sat down. He has just enough to watch until he gets bored of the same ole same ole and then he gets outside. (Thank you Jesus)

Agree to all of this. I have a 9 year old daughter and have made her turn off the TV several times after listening to what she was watching. Personally, I find spongebob funny as h@#l, but don't think it sets a good example for her. And I don't think that a lot of the female characters in most of the Disney shows set good examples either. Luckily, or maybe unluckily for me financially, she has taking a real liking to horses lately. So she has wanted to get outside and play with the horses any chance she gets here lately. I personally think it will be worth it for me whatever it costs to keep her from being in front of the TV, xbox, or nintendo DS. Although the DS can be a real life-saver on long car rides.

RFD TV, has Roy Rogers back on and the kids can join theRoy Roges club for Free but they have to take the Oath, I can't remember it but is be honest, do the rights thing and stuff like that that nobody actually tells kids any more.
Get the kids to watch old Roy Rogers & Trigger movies!

I guess I will go against the grain, but blaming the t.v. on how a child acts and how and what he/she matures into is like saying guns kill people. My son (7years old) watches disney and all the other cartoon channels on t.v. He makes all A s in school, excels in baseball, but if he gets out of line me or his mother are right there to put his little butt in check. A child will only spend countless hours infront of the t.v., x-box, nintendo and other games if the parents allow it. My son will play his 360 for an hour max, then wanna go outside and play with the dogs or throw the baseball. A child needs to be a child, not live like Little House on the Prairie. Not trying to make enemies or upset anyone one but thats how I see it in my little world.

I agree 100% on the cartoons now a day. I don't let my son watch half of them. They are to violent & he runs dogs with me. He is 12 & I am proud to say I think he is the youngest member on here. I want them to bring back Fog horn leghorn & Tom & Jerry & under dog you know the stuff we grew up watching on saturday mornings.

I agree with southtexasff, i dont have kids, but i have worked with children a few times. I coached a basketball team and this one girl had no tv at all, and honestly she was just awkward to be around. Kids learn social skills from tv, its a parents job to just make sure they learn the right ones. Television has alot of crap on it but there is alot of good stuff too. I watched a ton of tv growing up, and i turned out fine. Theres a difference in having tv and watching it, and allowing the tv to baby sit your kids, i think anyways.
