I was just contacted by Will from the Wounded Warrior's Project.  He takes seriously wounded/recovering vets from BAMC (SanAntonio) who show an interest in hunting out and trys to get them in touch with hunters who can accomidate a wounded vet for a hunt.  Will said that he has 3 guys and 1 gal who are very interested in getting out and getting a hog.  Some of the heroes are double leg amputees and some are one leg amputees....Others are recovering from burns and other war related wounds.  These soldiers are wanting to go hog hunting and LOVE the opportunity to get out of the hospital for a day or two.  I told Will about the TDHA contest and he thought it would be a great time to get some of these vets out.  He said some are wanting to stick their first boar with a knife and some just want to sit in a blind and get a shot on a hog.

I told Will that the folks I know on-line would come-thru and show these heroes the hunt of their lifetime.  He has guys wanting to go on the weekend of the 24th and some more that would love to get out the weekend of the EXPO.  Please search your hearts and give back to these folks that have paid a high price for freedom around the world.

Call Will yourself at 830-613-0730 with anything you can do for them......Tell him you are calling about the hog hunts Cody Weiser mentioned.

They can drive from San Antonio and are willing to go 100 miles and further to get these guys on a hog.

I have hunted with these heroes and they are some of the most humble and greatful people you will ever meet.  The smile on their face when they connect with a hog will be tattoo'd in your mind forever.  These are good people who have done so much.....Let's get together as hog hunters and show them the time of their life!

Cody,

I have a nice, easy to hunt, place in Flatonia where our team can take them hunting.  Just cleared it with the landowner, and we will have plenty of UTV's and ATV's for them to get around on.  I will call Will in a minute and figure out the details.

Okay fellow ETHD members....  I just spoke with Will with the Wounded Warriors Project as well, and our team will be taking 4 wounded vets.  He said there are a number of additional vets that would love the opportunity to go hog hunting, we just need some more volunteers to take them along. Any volunteers?

Dexter, it's the last weekend in February.

Cody, we're looking forward to taking these vets out and showing them a good time. Thanks for passing along that information.

There is one man in particular that is looking for a gun hunt if possible. He is a double amputee and is not comfortable enough with his new legs to go dog hunting. I don't think I have a spot to put him on a hog, hopefully another member can help him out.

Dexter,
We are tentatively planning to meet the men and women at the EXPO in Hallettsville on the last weekend of February, then travel to our hunting places from there. I guess it depends on how many members are able to take some vets with them as to how big of a production we make this. Might be nice to put together a BBQ or wild hog lunch or something like that for them.

Justin,
Give Will a call at the number Cody listed as I don't think he visits this site. I know that Will will be going to talk to some of the men and women tomorrow, and it will help him to know if anyone else is available to take someone hunting.
