Decided to change out one of my older DC-30 units collars today with a standard collar like the dayglo units they sale as replacements. Too cheap to pay 20.00 a piece so I did a little surfing and found a conversion that I decided to try. Here is what I came out with.

I used Basic 18'' collar but needs 21''-22" to run over cut collars. I needed this one for young pups I am running with no neck. 2-6" pieces of shrink tubing and a soldering iron. I will run it this weekend and let you know how long it holds up.  I plan to use 1050 nylon sleeve between the units on the next mods if this doesnt hold out for the long haul. Just didn't have any available on hand today and i had the itch to do it now...

Hey, that tube over the battery port looks familiar.  Let us know how the collar holds up.  I'm not real fond of the nylon collars they come with.

Sure thing. I am sure someone on here has already made this mod of their own and has some info on how the shrink tubing holds out in the briars. I already have ideas to improve it and will post as I make them.

i sure like the innertube deal... i have the ole lady stopping by wally world to get me one. I am tired of cleaning those contacts after every hunt. It looks simple but effective. I will also do the collar change as well, It seems like all my garmin collars smell like skunk now thanks to someones trashy dogs Evil

Yea, it's always someone else's dogs that start that crap.  Be sure to get a tube without slime in it.  A buddy of mine made that mistake.
