About 10 years ago I was going thru a really rough time. I was broke, in debt, had 2 kids, and was married to a woman I didn't love with a divorce on the way. I decided I would go to my dads one afternoon, and as I drove up in the yard, there he was on the front porch swing as if he knew I was coming over (although I had not called). When I sat down in the swing beside him, I began to cry. I hung my head and said "I didn't know IT was this hard".{ IT BEING LIFE}. My dad never asked me what happened or what was wrong. He put his arm around my shoulder and said "it's going to be OK". After a bout 20 minutes of just sitting there with him and crying I got up and left.

Now, I consider myself to be fairly tough. Ive had broken bones, concusions, and knocked out teeth. Thrown from horses and bulls. Been in car wrecks, bar fights, and been thrown in jail a time or two.

But let me tell you the comfort this ol tough guy felt when my dad put his arm around me that day!!!

Dad passed away in 2007, And is buried in our family cemetery. I visit his grave every few weeks, and as I stand there, the only words I can think to say are "THANK YOU"

A few days ago I was doing some bushogging and had a lot of time to think. I thought about some of the struggles I had been thru in my life and some of the sruggle yet to come. I started to feel my dads arm around my shoulder, and could hear his voice saying "IT'S GOING TO BE OK"- I CRIED

A life without struggles is a life unlived, my dad did nearly the same thing for me many years ago. I have been comforted by him every day even though he has been gone for several years.

Man that hits close to home I lost my mom not long ago and well it just plain brings tears to my eyes.  Sometimes simple words said are the words that hit home the truest.

That was great post!  Thanks

Hit close to home for me too.  The words that were spoken to me were from my grandfather and they were.  "Son everything is going to work out I promise you that." How? "They just will, but remember they may not work out the way you want them too, but they will work out."

Made me think of how much I appreciate everything my parents did for me growing up and made me think of my son and how I want to be the best father I can for him. Good post
