I took my half uglydog pup, Cleatus out with me today to fill feeders and just let him roam around and let him see new stuff, which at 13 weeks is just about everything. I let him see cattle, he found an armadillo, and as I was filling a feeder, he bayed his first hog. more or less. I had pulled the pickup next to the feeder, kicked Cleatus out to explore and was standing on the side of the box dumping corn into the hopper when i heard some leaves rustle behind me. I turned to look and was suprised to see six little football hogs staring at me from the edge of the treeline, maybe thirty feet away. I heard leaves flying in all directions and see Cleatus heading straight for the group. The shoats scattered in all directions when he got close, so he picked one out and gave it a heck of a try. I jumped out of the back of the pickup, and ran around the narrow strip of trees, nearly tripping over one of the panicked shoats on my way. I got there just before Cleatus and his shoat burst from the briar vines into the open, heading for another patch of cedars. Half way there the shoat, which was just big enough to be able to run, stumbled on something in the grass, Cleatus closed in on him and made a grab just as he got to his feet. Cleatus missed his chance so he backed up and started barking at the top of his little lungs! He got three loud barks out before the shoat broke on him and started running again. Cleatus stuck with him for about a hundred and fifty or so yards, with me running along a ways behind wiping tears of laughter from my eyes. Clete finally got outrun and came back to me, so i good boy'd him and we made our way back to the pickup. It was a hilarious sight to see two animals that are basically infants, acting almost like you would see and adult act. The whole race lasted maybe a hundred fifty yards, with a couple short "bays" and never moved faster than a slow run. If I'd have had my eight week old bulldog there who knows, we might have had him caught!

dabutcher, yes, you're thinking of the right litter. He's one of the black and white ones. Am I right thinking that you own mimi now?

Funny story Lance. I didn't know you had a pup.....shows how much I pay attention. Bait those pigs in so we can have a few canned hunts.
