Been needing an ice machine since the Wooly Mammoths became extinct and finally decided I should bite the bullet and get one. Is there anyone who has had a lot of experience with them? Thinking about getting a Scotsman or Manitowac. Don't need a humongous one but I would like one big enought to keep up with a couple coolers of meat in the winter and me and all my buddie's coolers in the summer.

Bryant here on ETHD listed one for sale recently. Might be worth messaging him to see what his experience has been with them.  My neighbors and I have talked about getting an ice machine, I keep waiting on them to buy the machine, then I can have free ice... I think they are waiting on me to purchase the machine, so they can have free ice.

BTW, If I ever end up with a machine, it will make Sonic ice. Wink

I do have a very nice Manitowoc currently for sale.  If you're interested, send me a pm.

I have a friend who owns a refrigeration company, so I've had several swap out machines over the years.  I don't use a lot of ice often, but I prefer a larger machine because I can have ice quickly.  I typically don't run my machine full time.  If I'm hunting or fishing the next day, I can run it over night and have a couple hundred pounds ready to go the next morning.

The sonic type ice machines are good for drinks but not worth a crap for cooler ice.  Larger the cube, slower it melts.

after having been a refrigaration service tech for several years if i was to buy a machine it would be manitowac hands down. just be sure and not wind up with one of the water cooled variaties . scottmans are ok but they did require more service  [ imo ] than the manitowacs .

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know.

Bryant, where are you located? I would like to know more about it.
