The anger that we experience when primed with these topics is not by any means deplorable. In fact , i think it shows the other side of the hunters; the side that cares about the dogs as best friends and kids. People want us to stop because they wrongfully assume that the hog is worth more then our dogs to us. Our dogs are not simply means to an end. Yes they do get us hogs but we each care about our dogs as an end in and of themselves and i think the ager and aggression we experience when we see topics about shot dogs actually exposes the "soft" side of us. The fatherly side; It actually shows people that this is a passion that we thoroughly enjoy and we care about our dogs. People think we load up our dogs everyday, drop them in a field and if some dont come back then o-well, THAT IS SIMPLY NOT THE CASE.

I honestly think that these people shooting these dogs don't care how we feel about our animals. This is why and how they can do what they do. To them, "It's not my dog... and it's on my land" JMO

Every time i see this topic come up (which it does regularly) i cringe. It never fails, people get upset, then the "What Ifs" start. I would be extremly upset if one of my dogs were shot, at MYSELF. After all it is my responsibility to ensure their safety, but i will say this:
It makes hog doggers sound ignorant to say "If one of my dogs are shot i would cut the person's throat". Seriously? Why would anyone think its ok to kill a person for killing a dog? I understand some people post that out of frustration, but think of how it makes us look as a whole. The mods are always on here telling us people use this site against us, so please even if you THINK (and i use the word think, because shooting a person aint the same as shooting a dog, deer, hog etc..) you would do that... DONT POST IT..
Mods, why not shut these topics down when they start goin down this road.. It jsut makes us all look bad.
OH THIS WAS NOT MEANT AS A DEBATE ITS MY OPINION, IM ENTITLED TO IT, AND WILL NOT POST FURHTER ON THIS SUBJECT.
Why not use the "Report to Moderator" button that is on the bottom of every thread if you have an issue with something? We don't always read every thread and post... Just click the button, then every mod gets a notification to look over a thread. For what it's worth, I agree that these types of threads with posts about retaliation are pretty dumb. The guys that are going to do something, don't talk about it.

What i was saying though was a reply to the poster who said us getting angry at people shooting our dogs is giving us a bad name. When in reality that is not the case. Although we act all gun hoe so would the people who downtalk hunting if their pet was shot. Because to many of us our hunting dogs are also our best friends. JMO

I just responded to your PM, but I'll go ahead and address it in public too. There are a half dozen or so mods on ETHD, some of us with more free time than others. I can only speak for myself, I am not interested in reading about hounds vs. curs, BMC vs. Cat, or watching videos of a dog in a baypen... So I don't click on those posts that don't interest me. I can only assume the same to be the case with the rest of the mods. If I see a thread with a rapidly climbing post count, I'll peek in to see what's going on. Basically, I am saying that we miss a lot of what goes on here, and rely on the members to use the notify moderator tab, so that we can be made aware of questionable posts that we might have missed.

Go have a look at the post on Texas hunting forum now.. I'm just gonna keep mouth shut. Nothing can be gained from trying to inform them MIF's how stubborn and biased they sound.

it was not a what if. i told him i would do it. shooting is one thing but how he done it,is another. that not call for. you dont like what i told himGOOD. HE didn't either. and if you dont mind someone killing a dog that way, you dont need a dog. iam just saying, as my kids would say. and any one that dont mind seeing a dog get shocked to death.I feel SORRY for you and your dog.

Well, being a policeman at a very large police department in East Texas, I sure feel sorry for the man that shoots mine. Garmin is a really nice thing to have so I can guarantee I will have been close if it happens. Yes it is a third degree felony to shoot someone's dog in this state unless protecting property, livestock or yourself. Pretty easy to prove in court when you have six dogs and all are tempered/trained the same. Good luck this year fellas and I hope none of yall has this problem.
