When barring a hog, do you cut the nut sack and all off, or do you just slice the nuts open, cut out the testes, and be done with it? Also, how do you most successfully break off the wetters? Pliers?
Sorry for the ignorant questions, I'm pretty new to this and have a lot to learn. Than you all in advance for any replies.

cut a small slit near the bottom of the sack, then cut the individual nut sacks and then pull the nuts out and cut them off. I carry a can of Furox (Yellow horse antibiotic) and a stapler in case it's a bleeder. This keeps from having to do it like most Ag sites tell you to do (cut a slit over each nut) and seems the hogs survive better this way.

When you cut him he will go and soak his butt in some mud and water. the mud will keep the flies off and the cuts will heal up fine.

It also is better if you cut him when it's during a dry month, keeps the flies down that could lay eggs in the cut.
