Ok as I posted a few days ago I got me a 10 month old Redtick male. I have never owned one nor have I ever hunted behind one. I have showed him a pig in a trailer 4/5 times bays good. I have had him in the woods 3 times, he answers a bay love that but my question is since they are hound will he be open on track or is there silent redticks. He's found his own hog in a creek that busted from the group we casted him out on he was silent and the next day we took him and he bayed some piglets up in a brush pile but again silent. I don't wanna get my hopes up on him being silent at him being young. Just wanna get some input from those of you who have had redticks thanks in advance.

Depends on the individual dog, only time will tell, but sounds good so far. Good luck

He may be silent on track. I have one I use for coon hunting and he is very tight mouthed. He has a good nose on him some people say he's hot nosed but he aint all that hot nosed because I've seen him working a track a long while then give a couple ground barks and roll up treed.

Everybody hollers PLOTTS but I think a english cross would be the way to go for a hog dog.

My bet is that he will be silent to semi silent...if you don't like...call me and I just might make room for him...

Me...I don't like a cold nosed hog dog...medium nose with an inclination to cut and slash to find the hottest tracks and the natural desire to wind a hog...
