k so i have this dog sitting in my front yard that my brother in law dropped off. he left no feed so i'm feeding her. i believe she is an english mastiff. she is only about 9 months old and probably about 120 pounds. my questionnaire is has anyone ever used one or think that one might work. i just figure as long as i'm feeding her might as well think about putting her to work

Show her a pig and see what happens. Either she catches or she doesn't won't hurt to try. She probably won't be able to breath very well, or get through the woods at a fast pace. But she could be a good anchor to send in behind your lead catch dog.

My wife has an English Mastiff and he will try to catch a pig. He gets winded real quick and don't like to get cut. I have never put him on anything in the woods, this is just what I have seen from the live ones I bring home. He got bit on the leg by one that he was trying to catch and he got real pissed off when that happened.

My wifes house dog is an english mastif and i thought it would be fun to get her to catch the hard part was keeping her from killing the rest of my pigs be care full once she started it was all over from there. I have spent the last five years trying to get her to quit catching. To this day if she get down to the bay pen she still trys to catch. Mind you this is my wifes cuddle dog and my kids ride her and pull her ears and she stilll catches. But she wont even defend here self with the kids picking on her all i can say is she is a great dog we love her and she does not go to the woods but that does not mean that she would not go.
