This bill is in committee NOW. This needs to be killed in committee.

HB 2001 by McCall, unlawful restraint of dog (Companion Bill SB 634, Identical)
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Text.aspx?LegSess=81R&Bill=HB2001

Yes, it says that a dog may not be kept outside by means of "restraint" that is leagle term for chain.

It also says all kennels must be at least 150 sq/ft, thats 10' x 15'.

Ya'll better make some calls, I have.

Here is the link to the Committee members, contact them all.

you can call your own representatives or the ones on the committee or both.  normally there will be a link on the tdha board to the ones on the commitee.  on the texas legislature site there is a link that says "who represents me?" that will lead you to your reps contact information.  You can talk to them on the phone or via email.

here is a link to find out who your representatives are
http://www.house.state.tx.us/resources/faq.htm#who_rep

this is for state legislature, although I don't see how contacting county commissoners as well could hurt

Thanks Lance I will have to give these people a call.  This is just getting rediculous, every three or four days they are hitting us with this crap.  If a quarter of this mess gets passed we are going to be singing a different tune come September.  That bill if I read it correctly would make it illegal to have your dog in a 10x10 kennel, which I just spent a good deal of money installing at my house on concrete with a roof.  And then it reads about leaving a dog "unattended" while there is a heat advisory, hell that is everyday all day from May-September around here.  The level of common sense in the people dreaming this stuff up is really troubling.

Matt, this bill is in committee and here is a link to that committee, we should contact everyone on the committee and tell them why we don't like this bill and offer sugestions to make it better, ie...exemption for hunting and working dogs.

http://www.house.state.tx.us/committees/list81/210.htm

You should also contact your state rep, we all should have that number on speed dial.

I and Mr. Mason will try and and feed you all the info we can so you can make the calls and send the letters that can make a differance.

I spent 2hrs this morning reading through 3 bills....I will keep ya'll up-dated but we all need to get involved or we will be in trouble.

Thanks,
Paul T

I appreciate your work Paul and Mr. Mason's as well.  I was talking to him last week when he was on his way home from Austin, we were discussing how many of these bills just keep getting produced.  I will take the time to make a few calls, we all should so the efforts of others do not go in vain and because we care about the future of all outdoor activities, especially hunting and working dogs.

Don't make the mistake of thinking these Bills are based on logic, they are not. They have one pourpose and that is to make it VERY HARD to own, house, and hunt any dogs. The HSUS and PETA are behind these bills, they will get all they can passed and then start adding to them and they will not quit.

Get involved and make some noise. I am now spending one day a week working on this type of legislation and thats not enough.

JOIN THE TDHA......and be pro-active.

Take a look,   http://thenewtdha.com/smf1.5/index.php?board=13.0

How to find who you need to call;

Click on this link and then put your ZIP code in the box on the right side.
This will give you every one that repersents you and how to get in touch.

http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/welcome.php

If you voted for them or not they are the ones that will add or defeat these laws about dog hunting.

Remember there are 12 Bills in the House Senate that need to die in committe.
Each of you call and do your part.
