am going to go out on a limb and say there is nothing better for fleas but it is not working for beep on one of my dogs for ticks. worked great last summer but ticks are eating him up this year but not my female any advice?

PBC, imiclopred (active ingredient in Bayer T&S) does not work well on ticks. I would suggest a preventic coller that contains amatraz for ticks.
Bayer T&S is the "stuff" for fleas!

yeah the tree and shrub stuff works wonders for fleas, i havent had any ticks on my dogs either, but i may just be lucky

Couple years ago when we first heard about the Bayer product, we started using it, and it knocked out the fleas on the dogs, yard, etc. Now it only seems to kill the fleas once they touch the dog. We got with a friend that is an exterminator and he recommended that we use Fipronil on the kennels and lawn. Said to mix 1/2 oz per gallon of water and soak the entire area with it.
Has anyone else used Fipronil / Termindor on their kennel area/ lawn and had good results?
Anyone mixed the Bayer in a sprayer and treated their lawn with it?

That sounds like a good idea. I haven't had any fleas on my lawn yet, I walk outside in flip flops a lot, used to they'd be all over my feet, when we first moved here our yard was covered, I started using Frontline and eventually over time because the fleas had no place to go they left. I hope that doesn't change with the tree and shrub, so far I'm really happy with it, saving a hell of a lot of money and getting the same results....  |

Fleas, just like intestinal parasites, often build up resistance to a single pesticide over time. If Bayer is becoming less effective, I would do a month or two of Comfortis treatment to kill the resistant fleas. Comfortis attaches to a different receptor in fleas than any product out there so there is zero resistance. After you have knocked out the resistant fleas, you can go back to Bayer for another year or two.
On your second question, I have sprayed the whole yard with Bayer and it worked great.

I spay the houses and areas w/ the bayer but as said above they will build a resisance, I alternate months w/ the bayer and I use the termidor on them every other month. Have y'all been able to find the bayer w/ out the nitrogen/fertilizer in it?

I found Gordons Tree and Shrub without the fertilizer in it, same active ingredient as Bayer and a couple bucks cheaper. I found it at Atwoods.

Lowe's still carries the T&S without the fertilizer in it. Wal Mart does not (at least not OUR wal mart  ) The problem I am having with the T&S isn't so much that it isn't killing the fleas, but that I have to re apply it so often. It lacks the "staying power" that advantage has. I have now spiked my T&S with just a shot of mineral oil, and it seems to have a little more stick to it. Once the fleas bite the dogs, you can watch them die in about 10 seconds. It's pretty cool. The problem is that I have to get the hatching fleas under control because I don't want my dogs to have to be bitten by a million fleas in order to kill them. When you mixed up the T&S to spray down the kennels, how did you apply it and at what concentration? It's WAY cheaper than the fipronil and if it will work in the kennels I'd rather use that. I LOVE the fipronil on the dogs now that I have spiked it with mineral oil as well. Cheers! M |

I mixed according to the instructions on the bottle for yard application.
You are correct about the Bayer not lasting as long as Advantage. Advantage has a carrying product added to it which helps it maintain coverage for a month. I just reapply as needed when fighting infestation. The garden product is such a low concentration that I don't see it hurting anything.

How are you guys mixing the T&S to apply on the dogs? It is a concentrate right? I don't have any problems yet but I know their coming. Thanks for your help.

I was told to mix 15cc per 1 gallon of water and spray the dogs, or i use 3cc on the dog, on the skin,on the back of the neck, shoulder area, 2cc on smaller dogs, seems to be doing the trick
