I am a pretty big fan myself of the AR platforms and have some that ive worked on in the past. Just wondering if theres any other ar fellas out there that got some, if so lets chek em out. Heres my 2 that i worked on. First one is my DPMS bull barrel with nikon scope and timney triger setup and my second one is my favorite spike tactical  punisher edition. This one i built from just the bare lower reciever. 2 stage triger on this one thats about it lol

I have a bushmaster m17s and a dpms ar15. They both are fun to shoot and have killed quite a few furry critters.

Its a good gun when doing some calling but its really akward to carry on a horse without getting that pistol grip riding into your kidneys. So it is my home defense gun.

texastransplant, go with a trijicon or eotech. during my military career. i had nothing but bad luck with them aimpoint red dots. they were a painn in the butt to zero and did not hold the zero long with all the jarring the rifles took.

here mine and the wife's. Mine is the longer 20 inch barrel with a 1 in 7 twist which I don't care for much going to rebarrel mine at some point to a w in 9 twist so I can shoot the lighter bullets has a burris black diamond on top. Shoots ok.  Wifes is a 16 inch barrel with a nikon m223 scope and is a tack driver.  The nikon is one heck of a scope highly suggest it.  Both with p mags free float hand guards and timniny triggers.  I built both.

The trijicon is a bit on the pricy range. $1000+ for one, but well worth it. the eotech, depnding on which style are under $800. the 1 i have is 552 night vision compatible. it cost $550 from rockriver arms. it works flawlessly and didnt have any issues zeroing it, nor it staying zeroed.

Inthis case i would really go with the trijicon. I know the price is higher than giraffe pu$$ but dam well worth it. I have a new eotech on mine the exp 3-0 series and holds dam good zero but csnt depend on it sometimes itll just shut off and wont come back on. I know theres good and bads but that issue just makes me wana get a trijicon. Shoot trijicon has a  smaller red dot looking one. Cant remember the name. Its not an acog. Some of their reflex sight are good as well

Very nice rifles guys. I agree purebreedcolt that Nikons are hard to beat for the money. Which barrel feels better yours or the wifes? Any of you have any experience with the 6.5 grendel? I am looking to put one together and let my son shoot it as well but the 20" barrels I like would probaly hurt accuracy.

An older pic. Theirs a few more upgrades now like an 3X NCStar scope and Magpul stock and and grip but it's a Rock River Arms lower and a M1 Sales custom upper. Free Floating 16" barrel.
