The Dr. Pepper corporation shutting down the Dublin, Texas bottling plant. Do you think that it was Fat Corporate greed squashing the little guy or was it just good business? The small bottling plant in Dublin used cane sugar in the Dr. Pepper which I think tastes better. Maybe that had something to do with it. Here is the story and comments at the bottom of the page. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2012/01/12/dublin-dr-pepper-fans-furious-at-corporation/

Ms Dinah, my wife is absolutely heart broke over this. I actually think we had a day of mourning at our house, lol. It's an absolute crock of crap!!!! My parents live in Tolar, and when we would get to go up there, I had to take her to get some Dublin Dr. Pepper! When my parents came down here this year for Good Friday, they brought her a case, and said she might wanna hold on to it cause that was it. Bad deal all around! A pic you posted awhile back had a Butcher fellow in it. Is that one of Doug Butchers crew?

Yes it has also affected our son's girlfriend's family. Her aunt and uncle worked at the Dublin plant. Yes, that was Sonny Butcher, he is a cousin of Doug Butcher. Sonny has his own string of bucking bulls. Lol Small world.

Its always sad when people lose their jobs in a deal like this. At the same time though... I don't understand why people think they can tell Dr Pepper what to do. Does Dr Pepper come to your house and tell you what to do?

Well, aren't most of you in favor of capitalism? Seems to me that is all that is occurring. Someone owned the Dublin operations and they sold them to the Plano company, which is now shutting down and their unique product discontinued.
I think those "buggy whip" manufacturers complained about the same thing.

They have a durn good cherry limeaid that is as good as you get from sonic and several others. This all came about when snapple bought dr pepper and according to snapple ddp was saleing out side of the agreed area on the net etc.

Small world indeed. Been on alot of Doug's bucking horses back in the day. Sold a truck to a Hispanic fella from Winnie awhile back, and he couldn't understand a whole lot I was saying. Ended up going through Doug's step daughter from over there in Liberty or Dayton to do all the translating. She sold insurance, but can't remember her name.

He goes by dirtyblackmouth. About 10 years ago, I used to see Doug pretty often up at Cannons Feed store in Tarkington having coffee in the mornings.
