I do a little of all three I use my four wheeler most cause I have lots of land to hunt so it saves my dogs energy when I can put them on the box until they wind or until I find fresh sign

Mostly because it easy to carry dogs, caught hogs,  and suppies, it never gets tired, it can haul dogs out of the woods quickly when they need medical attention,  and can get to a bay over a mile away quickly. Sometimes we cover as much as twenty to thirty miles on a hunt. I probably need to walk that much but Im not about to do it.

I've done all three over the years. Hunting on foot sucks! I did alot of walk hunting when I was young. You can't cover near as much country on foot, especially this time of year in this heat. Before the wife and kids started hunting with me I preferred hunting horse back but now its easier to load 4 wheelers than catch, saddle, and haul a pile of horses. Horses and 4 wheelers each have their advantages and disadvantages. You can sneak up on a bay easier on a horse. It doesn't take much to make a hog break and run these days. You can go alot of places on a horse that you can't go on a four wheeler. On a horse you can ride real close to the bay and cut the catch dog loose. If you try to get close on a 4 wheeler they will usually break. But using a catch dog with a horse can create big problems if you don't know what you are doing. Not every bull dog will try to catch your horse but most will, especially when you start to trot or lope. A bull dog hanging off your horses nose is not fun, that I promise you! If you don't mind using small bull dogs like around 35-40 pounds then you can carry them in the saddle with you and just ride up to the bay and drop them on the ground, I used to do that alot. If you decide to use horses let me know and I will tell you how to break them to lead without catching your horse. The down side to horses is that they get tired and you can't run them wide open all the time if you need to like you can a four wheeler. It's hard to carry out a wounded dog on a horse. They will usually die before you get back to the truck. There is also the additional expense of keeping and maintaining a horse vs. a four wheeler.

I used to hunt with a good friend on horseback quite a bit, i loved it. On horseback you can hear so much better, and can ride 15-20yds from the bay without fear of breakin it.......when we hunted on horseback alot we were fortunate to have 2 bulldogs that would walk along side us and not act a fool around the horses. I will say that when we hunted horseback our dogs were in far FAR better shape than they are now due to bein on the ground the entire hunt.

Now days we hunt mainly on 4wheelers due to overall convience for the reasons djhogdogger stated above.

dont walk, or ride horses. dogs ride on the hood or box. we have lots of roads are thses ranches we hunt. we use 4 wheeler to get the hog out sometimes.

i road my dogs in front of the pick up alot they hunt really well that way!

I hunt out of my Ranger or my truck.  If I had a lot of hogs and knew where they laid up at I guess I may walk hunt.  We have so much land and so few hogs....may ride hours before I find a track of fresh sign.  And then, the hogs run so bad, my dogs may be a mile from me and still going....no way to cover that much ground walking.

I've done all 3 walking ant the funnest one though I take my wheeler if its alot of land but if no trail's we will take horses

we do all three and I like all three , like said gotta have a good handle on your bulldog when horse back , we are around alot of cows and calves and that can also be a mess , my dogs very good but when I hunt this way I run a shock collar on him for the    what ifs   , when I first got him he was 20 months , I let him out of the box in the dark to piss ect. with the other dogs , he took off and had a giant bull caught , the bull had went out in the middle of a pond by the time I figured out what was going on , he was swimming in circles with george on a ear , I broke out my 40 and shot a few rounds and thank god he let go and swam out , the big bull stayed in the pond and we got the heck out of there

i have do all 3 , an the 4 wheeler is good in some spots walking is good in the winter lol an horses are good some spots just depends on terrain an how you hunt ,
