Went out with 2 buddies last night to a real swampy place with a big grain field on the other side. Walked the dogs (which we hardly ever do) around the perimeter of a good patch of brush. The dogs kept trying to wind back to the right but never left out. The dogs were hunting about 150 yards in front and we could tell they were smelling pigs. We had walked about 3/4 of a mile and Brutus, Hank and Jack disappeared across the grain field trying to wind. We waited and heard nothing and when we saw them heading back we sent Aaron to get the truck and pick us up on the back side. Austin and me kept walking and came across a little creek full of water with a plum thicket on one side and a grain field on the other. The place looked like pig heaven. Brutus, Molly and Jack hauled butt to the left and the Koonce's 3 dogs to the right. It wasn't long before we heard Brutus whine and let out a bark and the 3 were bayed hard. The Koonce's 3 dogs hauled butt past me straight to bay and got in there and started hammering. We sent Moose from about 50 yards and Austin followed him in while I video taped it. I heard Moose hit and the dogs start fighting then nothing but water splashing. I came around to the creek and saw the bay. Moose was gutted and standing off to the side and Brutus was caught on ear. Austin ran in and legged (well tailed it) and got a good stick in before I jumped in to help him. Finally got him killed and checked all the dogs. Molly, Jack, Moose and Hank were all cut, but none were bad except Moose. We wrapped Moose up in a shirt and hauled him to Dublin where we cleaned him up and gave him some penicillin. The black dog on ear,in the video, is Brutus. I DO NOT know how he didn't have a single scratch. I guessed the pig at about 240-250 lbs.
