I like my doors to open to the side, because I could still load up 2 atvs side by side and still get dogs out.  Also be careful of your door for your gooseneck ball don't want it in the way.  Next one I build will have one side door that is big enough to open and put a saddle in their, so u can lock it up in the box.

I built that thing in about an hour.  I used an old bed frame and a piece of r-panel for the roof.  I have to build one for my new truck I will think that one out a little more.  Yea man I'm always down for some dogs.  U need to go to the cowdog trails with me this year.  I'll call u about that.

Not a very good pic, but after using it since 2004, don't know that I would change a thing.

Here's one I built a couple years ago.   I made it to fit my SRW flatbed, and it will also fit in the front of a regular pickup bed.

Here are a few pics from different angles.  The flatbed is a Bradford Built bed and I am real pleased with it.  I would prefer a full skirt on the side, but the bed was free, so I am not gonna complain.

The bed did not have a trough in it, here are a couple pics from when we put the trough in.

I made my doors on 45 angles so I can open them with a 4 wheeler on the back
