I have a 2 yr old pit that me and my gf started on hogs. Well she has only caught one and that was just to see what she would do. Would it be a good idea to get a finished catch dog to help finish her or would it be better to take her with other dogs . Any suggestions will be helpful.

I've started quite a few bulldogs just taking em to the woods without ever seeing a hog or me seeing em catch. If she's caught, take her to some bays and let it do it's job!
Most won't agree but "It's a way, not the way!"

I agree. Go catch some hogs and don't worry about opinions or labels

I don't usually have a hog in a pen so I usually start all my dogs in the woods, catch dogs included. I usually turn a solid catch dog loose and send the new one right behind it. Most of the time they catch with the other one.

i haven't ever seen the need or point in [ training ] a catch dog to do more than the basic obediance . bulldogs either catch or they don't know training involved .
