Zach got us access to a small place about 15 minutes from the house. We got lucky last Thursday and caught 1.3" of rain that put about a foot of water in the dry tank. We went yesterday and baited all around the tank and back aways and this morning there was a lot of sign .
So, we re-baited and went in this evening. About 150 yards away, we spotted this one feeding on the far end of the tank. Ducked into the mesquite and cat footed to the edge of the clearing and Zach dropped the hammer on him at about 6o yards.
We noticed this right off. Something with more teeth than him put the gaff to him pretty good.
He weighed 155 guts , feathers and all. Not a monster, but he was fat and clean and should be good on the pit. Plus it's the 1st one either of us have killed in a couple of years.
