There was no barring this one.  By the time we got to the hog the catch dog was laying lifeless next to a fallen tree.

Striker got this hog bayed up within 200 yards.  We sat tight and let the rest of the dogs get there.  We walked in and turned the catch dog loose.  He got there and the hog broke.

The catch dog couldn't keep up and was left behind.  They stopped him again about 200 yards out in some THICK green briars.  After crawling past the catch dog Troy and I were face to face with about 20 feet between us.  The curs were baying, but I could not see cur dog #1.  I took my newest catch dog off my hip and put him down with a shot to the forehead.  He dropped right there.

Turns out the catch dog wasn't dead.  He was just knocked clean out.  We had 5 bay dogs on the ground.  Two got cut pretty bad, and one had a few flesh wounds.

Some folks seem to feel that they don't need to carry a firearm with them on the hunt, I say that you're crazy not to......your post says it all bud.
