My two gyps will jump out of my kennel with hot wires and all. They do it so fast i dont think the hotwire even gets a chance to pop them. I have two wires run above a five foot panel. I have another couple panels bought to put on top. Just need to get around to it

trick is to not put it directly on top . i use the 5'' t-post insulators they run inside the pen 5'' around the top . sticking out that far henders the dog when it legs the top of the fence as well as nocking the fire out of them . never had one bail since i started using the long plastic insulators .

I got a dog that does the same thing. Before I put a top on his kennel he would climb the kennel by putting his paws in the openings and use it like a ladder.  I tried putting plywood on top but with in a day or two he would find a way out. Started pissing me off cause he seemed smarter than me. I ended up putting another section of kennel on top to totally enclose it.  I also have to put a clip on the kennel latch because he will bump it with his nose to open it.  Its funny cause after I feed him and walk away I hear him messing with the latch to see if I forgot to secure it right.

My CD did the same thing with the latch sort of. He would bump the gate over and over until the latch would pop.

I almost didnt want to tell this until somebody else did.  I had 2 dogs that could open a chainlink latch and my buddy had their daddy and he could.  I dont mean sometimes...I mean one gyp in particular could do it as fast as you could...wash out her pen, turn around to get a scoop of food, and you heard her hit the latch and u better be headed that way or she was gone.  She was a very special plott dog and learned to go silent.  When she was 10 months old you could put her on last nights track in the dirt road, and she would bark before she got out of the ditch.  When she was 3 to 4 years old she went totally silent running shoats, but would bark on big hogs.  By the time she was 5 or so she was silent until she jumped and then if the hog didnt stop, she would hush after about 20-30 minutes.  I believe she had the ability to reason.
