Ok Ive got a place that is fairly large that I get to hunt on the side of the trinity river well this morning I dumped my strike dog and a pup on a fresh track and they bayed a group of hogs and the bay broke my pup took a hog .82 one way and my strike dog took another one 1.45 in the opposite direction well I got my pup off his hog and headed back to the truck to go pick up my strike dog well he had crossed into the trinity river wildlife refuge and some suck hunters had caught him and called the park ranger when ingot there the park ranger would not release my dog to me until I cited me with not one but two tickets one for me permitting my dog to go on tithe refuge which I did not do he turned him loose on private property the hog crossed the boundary and so did my dog and the second ticket he wrote was a ticket for my dog intervening in a duck hunt  which I the duck hunters wouldn't have picked him up he would have came back to me now I ended up with exactly 500 bucks in citations for my dog crossing an imaginary line now I didn't not follow him I went around In my truck to catch him  I was wondering what y'all think should I try to fight it being that my dog can't read and that and being that I turned him loose a mile and a half away from the boundary line or should I just pay the ticket and be done with it

Fight the interfering with the duck hunt part if the guy vouches for you...might be screwed on the other part though much as I hate it for you the dog did cross the stupid imaginary line. The crazy part to me is the hogs shouldn't be on the refuge they're not native.

Fight it, you'll be fine. Tell the judge it was racial profiling, and discrimination because they didn't bother to catch the hog and fine it's owner too!!

After that, you need to make sure the pups you got are skiddish as heck and possibly would bite if caught. This is one of the main reasons I want my dogs coyote wild when it comes to strangers. If they wouldn't have been able to catch him, it would have been the same as if any other wild animal "interrupted" Thier duck hunt. They would have said oh that god dang dog.... then the dog woulda kept right a going on about his business and they would have too.

I ain't being rude with you, just saying that the duck hunters are about the normalest type of folks you could have run into in that particular spot, you know as well as me, any one of those crack heads ever gets ahold of a dog outthere it'll be on the dog trade before you make it back to the house that evening.  figght it as said before. talk to the head park ranger and explain what went on, have the duck hunter write a letter, sign it and mail it to u, have him also call the head park ranger and explain his side of it. if you show on your garmin where you turned your dogs on the land you hve permission to be on and see if he will drop the charges. i got a 3 tickets 1 time from a warden, called the senior warden, and he dismissed 1 of the tickets. if the ranger wont dismiss either the tickets, when u go to talk to the judge, have the letter from the duck hunter, a pic from your garmin showing  or the garmin its self and show him where you turned out.

The duck hunter explained to the park ranger what had happened and he still wrote me the ticket butbim almost certain that any judge that has half a heart would understand that my dogs can't see an imaginary line on a map nor read I was real civil with the park ranger didn't cause any trouble and he told me that he was cutting me a ton of slack

I would fight it but I fought the tickets when I rear-ended a State Trooper. Of course I won in court. To me if you don't fight you already lost. Sit down and come up with your logical reasoning and then go in and fight. I am always real nice to LEO's but some are just jerks. The bigger jerk they are to me the more likely I am to fight in a legal way. The people that grabbed you dog were dog thieves. A river is a legal physical boundry. That is if your yard had to be fenced but had a river on one side you do not have to put a fence along the river. So if you can prove that your dog crossed a river then you win the whole fight. If you have some to back up your story that is good. If you have it on your GPS with date and time marks that is even better. If the Ranger was nice you can be nice. But if he was a jerk I would have a list of questions about legal and physical boundries, then you can ask why the hunters were not charged with theft. But I would only do that if he was a jerk.

(This is not legal advice. You should seek legal advice from a legal professional)
