Anyone ever thought of useing tracking collars or pigs when training pups instead of drags. U could cut the pig loose give it a head start say 15 min then take ur pups and cross the track wherever u choose. If the pups don't get it done u can turn ur trained dogs on it and get the pig and collar back. This to me seems like it would take the chance of pups actually trailing ur smell instead of the drag.

Until that pig gets educated and gives your dogs the slip.  Then you're out an expensive gps collar...

Just hope you catch up to it before the collar dies or you get off your property.  Pretty sure trespassing with a firearm is a federal offense.

Track down and shoot was an option I thought of as well. It may not would work to reliably but it would allow u to know the exact path of the pig so u could cross his trail. Then u would also know his path to watch the way ur pups worked it. If the run exact track or cut corners running off scent cone in the air. One of those ideas that just popped in my head.

I truely have considered it, the archery part not the trespassin part lol. Im pretty confident with my bow, esp at very close range lol. With the right 2 dogs i woud do it.....just gotta raise em right.
