I've been having a lot of trouble lately up at my lease with hogs that want to keep running, and never stop and bay. Have had several races in the past couple months that have lasted for hours and come up with nothing at the end. Finally, last night, or early this morning really, we got one stopped. After several turnouts that netted not so much as a bark, I turned out again at the corner of an oats field that is bordered by a creek and some pretty thick cedars and brush. Both strike dogs left out, heading in different directions. My hound cross, Blue went down the creek, and the catahoula, Betty crossed and went into the cedars on the other side. After about a fifteen or twenty minute wait I heard Betty open up and bay quite a ways off. I drove part way there, then started walking with the catch dog, Chico. I could hear Betty bay for a while, then go quite for a little bit, then start baying again farther off. Blue finally made it to the bay, and they were able to hold it fairly solid and let me catch up. I heard it break one more time, but they got it shut down again quickly, he move just far enough to bay up in a dry creek bed choked with brush. I sent the catch dog in and a few minutes later it was all over. Wound up with a boar i guess around 170 or so, with almost no cutters, they were broken off. Felt good to catch one again out there after getting outrun a few times. no pictures this time, by the time I got him caught the camera was about a mile away and I had some hot dogs to deal with.

Congrats. To me there's no better feeling than putting an end to a dry run.
