I agree with T-Bob,  Randy Bumpurs.

If you place in the Bumpurs hunt, you have good dogs, good properties, and good help.   If you are missing any one of the three, you are donating to the pot.

I would say the tdha. This tournament set the standard for hog hunting tournaments and has more teams than any other. is also a huge fundraiser to fight for our rights as dog hunters. Just my thoughts...

Whats the super Bowl consist of in football.. the two BEST 2 teams competing for the ultimate prize, the Lombardi Trophy... and those best two teams ran the gauntlet of the elite teams that year in football by progressing through the playoffs.

The TDHA is a good hunt, for a good cause; but with only 4 or 5 hogs required for the weigh in these last few years, it opens the amount of people that can compete. Therefor are you really competing against the best of the best?? They also have less payout $$$ and buckles available due to less categories that you can win. Its bigger in my opinon because its been going longer being one of the initial hunting tournaments. This year the TDHA hurt themselves by seperating us as dog hunters with the whole barr issue

In my opinion the Randy Bumpurs is by far the super bowl of hog hunting. with 20 buckles, 8 paid out spots at over $15,000 in prize money it is uncomparable witht these other tournaments. The deciding factor for me is that they base their big pay out... $6k this year, on the heaviest stringer of 10 hogs, which seperates the men from the boys in hog hunting. its alot easier for people to catch a heavy stringer of 4 or 5 hogs vs 10. If you are looking to compete with the ELITE which I believe the words 'Super bowl" encompass, you should plan on hunting the Bumpurs next year

I agree with tony bumpers is definitely the best of the best you have got to have 4 solid team members losts of dog power and a good place anytime you can put together 10 hogs to weigh 1800 you did something win or not

It's not about the money or the buckles I would say its about who is hunting the contest. The Tdha has hunters all over Texas that come out a lot more folks enter in Tdha contest. Bumpers is a good contest just not that many teams enter. Tdha has a lot more money involved but it goes to us as dog hunters to keep doing this great sport we call hunting with DOGS.

well hopefully next year they dont take the hunt away from the DOGS like they did last year, do to political pressure from outside. If they really are a dog driven association, they will allow barrs without limitations; because the hog DOGS that are out there hunting CANNOT tell the difference. They are just doing their jobs. The same jobs that TDHA is supposedly fighting for, yet they are being hypocrites in their own contest placing rules on an animal who cannot think for itself in the realms they are suggesting.

Sure we may disagree because of how you get land to hunt and how we do, but if everyone is in it for the sake of the dogs, these competitions have to get back to being centered around the DOGS, and less focused on the HOGS!

We talked to president and they said that all their hogs sold from the competition were used for legal fees; we suggested a 10 hog stringer next year. More hogs=more legal fee $$$ and the cream rises to the top in order to compete in that type of stringer.

I would love to have more respect, and see the TDHA tournament become the pinnacle of DOG hunting tournaments; but after this last year their are alot of us that dont feel that way anymore. Im not picking a fight, just expressing our opinions as the passionate dog hunters that our group and other like minded dog hunters have.

I do think the barr issue needs to be addressed and I like how the Randy Bumpers tournament took a percentage off. The fact of the matter is anytime a dog gets shot or laws come up against us as dog hunters who do we turn to?Huh? Not any tournament that I know of uses money made to put in that pot beside the TDHA.  Yes TDHA may not have all the buckles and prizes as others but that money is put into fighting for us. TDHA still has a great payout and lots of prizes. As far as the best of the best and a 10 hog stringer. Since TDHA is more of a state wide tournament I don't think as many people would enter because they don't have the spots to produce that kind of a stringer. That has nothing to do with dogs.  Now does that mean its weaker tourny?? No...They could do a 10 stringer but would also need to keep the 4 separate. From a fundraiser prospective you don't want to make the stringer so crazy that fewer teams turn out. You have to find that medium ground and like T Shelly said TDHA def needs to figure out a way for barrs to be allowed so we don't loose those teams... I have a feeling that with all these different tournaments doing different things TDHA will take a little of each and will continue to be biggest hog dog tournament in the nation...Just my thoughts..

With that being said if its going to be the super bowl of tournament to really see who has the dog power the stringer of ten seperates the men from the boys
