My wife breed bloodhounds at one time she was breeding for search and rescue dogs.I had a hog pen full of hog at the time ...... She had 2 litters she was going to raise and train. I started playing with them on the hogs  out of 14 pups there was one that liked it Nemo was his name and I claimed him he was not for sale he always wanted to go hunt....... I left to go pens some cows and took all the curdogs he followed me out and got run over before I could really see what he was going to make but he was different than the rest he had speed and a brain the rest were slow and to me were dumb.... Not saying it is impossiable just don't think they make good hog dogs one out of 14 is not good odds......  I get an easy 8 out of 10 cur pups to work!!!!!!!

Know a fellow that had one.  Good nose, gritty, but SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.  You could catch and tie the hog before he ever made it to the bay.

I was thinking the same thing. We need a Bloodhound nose, Greyhound speed, Pitt Bulls grit and bite and BMC + Catahoula determination.... We went chasing the city hogs again and I am "bum-fusselled". I really do not know what we need.

The Bloodhound are real cool dogs. But in one fellows honest opinion, they will not work for hogs without some help. They do have an unbelievable nose, but IMO they are probably not your best choice. The bloodhounds are real cool family pets and if you take them out and get them hurt you will be the least favorite person in the house.

Were comes the can of worms; IMO the best dogs are some good ole long legged mutts with some BMC breeding (with a little pit maybe JMO), and I have to say the good ole Catahoula (PURE BRED) or my Dad would turn over in his grave.....Later...
