We hunt mt cur and feist and we breed and raise them we leave ours running loose and the older dogs train them we look for lots of hunt accuracy and drive also one that will stick with a tree and wont leave when another dog trees

mnt.cur or treeing cur and my ol walker gyp was a heck of a squirrel dog in the daytime  . you want a dog to hunt with it's eyes nose and ears  .  staying put on a tree for comp hunting but timbering a squirrel for pleasure or meat hunting . when I was a kid our farm dog that was half german shepard and half collie put a lot of meat on the table .

I hunt Mullins feast they have the game drive nose and brains. My males typically run about 30#s and 18" at front shoulder. I like em because they stay bussy and generally make me about a 200yd loop and don't miss all the ones some of these straight lining dogs will.

I have a buddy who is real big into training squirrel dogs and I've seen some of his best dogs were mountain curs he had one gyp a guy couldn't get her to stay put on a tree my buddy Adam bought her for 200 dollars 6 months later he sold her for 2000 he spent more time in the woods with that dog then he did sleeping lol everyday man after he got through she was a hell of a tree dog fast working

He had 5 years gyp mountain cur that was really accurate she was a little slower but spot on, anyway said all that to say mountain curs seem to be pretty good like anything else though some good some bad

Her brother my male dog all the sudden quit squirrels and coons and loves hogs but we dont run him 24/7 cause he is open. These two are clark bred junior jukebox and two toed joe. We won 2nd in the treeing contest at the NKC hunt in lufkin and i won 1st in my class with my male then got beat out in the overall final
