If you run an open mouth hound with some younger dogs that have been silent so far, will they start to open up? Thanks for the help

Some ppl say no and others say yes but I think it depends on the dog if his going to open up or yip every now and then from hearing the other dog open up

From everything ive heard almost always yes. My buddy wont even put pups on the ground with an open dog because of that.

Well you just never know. I have an 9 year old catahoula that has been raised next to my plotts her entire life. She dont open...
I am sure there is someone else who has a story completely different than mine. How old are these younger dogs that have been silent so far and how often have these dogs been hunted?
Id say if these dogs are older than 18 months and have been hunted a lot and are quite, chances are they will stay quiet.
If you are talking about pups that are 10 months old that went to the woods a handfull of time, it could go either way.

no that's how i like my finished dog that trains good pups! They learn faster if the pups bond is good with the finished dog, so they know his bark!

10 month old walker cur gyps that have been to woods a bit and have found about 10 or 15 hogs. Would like to have a medium to long range finished dog to help them but only have a short range finished gyp. Was thinking about trading her for something longer.

Well since they already have some hound in them, I would say the chances of then being open is higher than not.

Im gonna have to go with this answer. I've been hunting my Catahoula pups behind open blueticks, and the cats still remain silent. The hounds opening up seem to help the cats learn whats going on, and gives them a reference point to know where the hounds are in case they lose them. So my opioion, if the dogs gonna be silent he/she will be silent wether dog they are hunting with are or are not.

I run a 4 ye old gyp half plotts 1/4 cur 1/4 bad w plotts and other open dogs her whole life and she is dead silent and never opens until her eyes are on the hog .also just my opinion going to the woods w all silent dogs is like going there w no dogs and just sitting on the tail gate. I like to hear a good race !!jmo Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

It all depends on the dog. Some will start opening up and some will stay silent.
