My little cur has come a long way, she struck her first hog 2 days ago & bayed and did everything fantastic. I have put her on drags and hunts where I turn a trapped pig loose & she gets to run it down and what not but here's my problem. When she was In the bay pen, she'd go to hammerin down like a pro and other times she will like run with the pig and kinda circle it without barking  Ons time when I turned a pig loose for her to run down she did the same and other times she like I said will just bark up a storm. Is this common in youngsters and she will get better and better about barking more? She's been around dogs that are finished and she will bark and bark but when it's her and one of my other younger dogs she just I guess you could say "sizes up her opponent" anything y'all have to say will help. Thanks & God bless.

well I all ways started my pups at a very young age and it is not uncommon for the young dogs to do this and yes with age they should settle down and bay or catch . what is the age on your dog ?

Sounds like a pup being a pup "playin" with the hog somewhat......I have seen it happen in the past, pup gets to actin goofy around a hog and "playin" persay until ol hog gets tired of it and smokes the pup........its usually all business after that  Wink

Definitely could see that lol. She's mainly business but you can definitely see pup in her. Good a good little smack around last week and I think she took it to heart.

Sounds like your dog just needs more confidences that can come faster with more pen working or hunt her until she starts maturing while her confidences level come on!  If she's baying good with one other dog then work her up to bay by her self!
