I have a couple questions for ya if there are any around my area, the lease is between beaumont and sour lake just off of hwy 105. FIRST and foremost I have a little over 400 acres that borders a heavily traveled road, not so much at night BUT it would be something to keep in mind and be aware of. We deer hunt this property and are getting tired of continually feeding 1/2 of our corn to the coons, to say the least we have a PILE of em on this place, I have pictures of 10-14 at one time under a feeder. I don't own coon hounds and have only run with guys coon hunting a handful of times and just like with hog dogs the dogs they carried all varied in range/speed/hunt etc. I just ordered a dozen dog proof coon cuffs and plan to start trapping the little devils shortly but I am open to dropping a hound or two and blastin em out of the trees, this wont be a tree and leave deal, this is an all out extermination attempt lol

here's my questions to any of you in the area.

1) would any of you feel comfortable dropping your dogs on this property, this wouldn't need to be a set em down at the gate and let em take off, we can drive right up to the feeders on a buggy and drop your dogs.

2) is anyone interested or available to help me out? you can keep all we shoot if you are into skinning/tanning/selling them. I don't want em anything but dead, after that they are yours to do with what you please.

3) Im not looking to have a pile of people out there on the property, ideally it would be me plus 1 and you plus 1 BUT if you are a family man or woman I'd be more than happy for you to bring the family/kids along to get in on the fun as long as you have a 4wheeler or side x side.

Anyone interested either reply to this thread, email me at justin.corbell@jvic.com or text me at 409-926-7505. I can be available thursday-saturday nights. Thanks in advance

the thought had crossed my mind BUT im not too sure that any of mine would mess with actually treein a coon, they have been "corrected" a time or two for messing with the wrong critters if you know what I mean. I have also considered picking up 1 short range squirrel/coon dog but I really can't justify it as I know I wouldn't hunt em like they would need to be. Normally im all about just goin out and having a good time, win, loose or draw BUT this ain't gonna be for recreational purposes, we are about to put out more feeders both corn and protein and I am declaring an all out war on these coons. I honestly believe that with the right dogs/ people it would be nothing to pull 40 coons off this little place. Part of the issue I believe is that the properties entire western border is a neighborhood so i imagine between the corn we put out and the ample trash opportunites they have flourished lol.

I know what ya mean I wish I was closer down that way I would love to help thin them out . would have been better to do it during hide season and you could make a little change to boot . you could still freeze them for next year if you catch them quick .  the rut should start real soon and next year you'll have about 4 times as many  .

They'd tear into a coon but not so much tree one. Would be a good laugh though. I've thought about bringin em to work at night and lettin them catch the ones comin out the dumpsters.

well boys if you just go in there at night and bust them up , they will head for the trees and all you have to do is go and shine the trees for eyes and start shooting . you could walk in without a dog and do the same thing . we had them all around our hog pen and when we would get there at dark or just after during the week to run the traps on the place , you could shine the trees and see eyeballs looking at you all over the place  . and calling in coons at dusk with a predator call will bring them running . but just be carefull if you call them , them little sneaky suckers will have you dancing an irish jig if you ain't paying attention  lol

I appreciate it Mr. Whitten, i'll give him a shout. the coons are an issue, the squirrels are a bonus........ I love me some squirrel and dumplins! I've got a young jack russell gyp at the house that is squirrel crazy, hell she is anything crazy but after I video'd her attemptin to catch an 80lb sow in a pen momma put an end to her hog hunting days, so now she is on full time squirrel patrol. truth be known she is our baby girls dog but dont tell her that haha, she is with me like stink on chit if im at the house.

yeah Justin we squirrel hunt with same dogs we coon hunt with , just squirrel in the daytime and coons at night , most all the cur dogs are combo dogs . so even the squirrel hunters would most likely be very appreciative of the opportunity to hit a spot loaded with coon  .
