As you may know from reading my other post on Swamp Sow, that I shot a nice hog last night and was not able to recover it. Lost the blood trail down by the river and it got to dark to see the blood.
Well I hooked up with my friend this morning and went back out and re-tracked the hog I shot. Started from the beginning marking the way with broken sticks. Took the track back down by the river. Looked in the area for awhile when we found some blood leading to a small pennisula that has the river running around it. Got to the river, saw the tracks on my side of the bank and look to the other side and there is the hog dead on top of the bank on the other side of the river!!! Man I was pumped up. We trailed the hog for 180-200yds. Good shot, just a tough hog!!
I cross the river and when I look at the hog I have another big surprise, the hog is not a sow but a boar!! Drag him back across and enjoy the moment! What a great setting to end the hunt!! Down in the river bottom, surrounded by cypress tree's, oaks, pines, and a Nice hog!! Good hunt, good trailing, good friend, ends with a good Boar!!
