I have searched and can't find anything about them breaking but I ordered 2 of them for dc 40s but the little black piece on each antenna is gone will that affect the collars range? Anybody else's loose that little piece?

I have them in the 21" length and they work awesome. The really are tuff. If you are only speaking of the black tip, that is only a tip to keep from getting poked by the cable if it pokes out the top. Nothing to do with range. Put some black shrink wrp on em if you want the look.

Isn't it just shrink wrap? Put some more and you'll be good.
Electrical tape should work too
