Aight paper guru's.

Breakdown the history on the mainstream bloodlines that founded this registry.

Are these dogs same kindred blood to Foundation reg dogs?

Are they completely separate bloodlines?

Rumor I remember way back is they were same but the powers to be had a spat and they separated forming a new registry but same core blood. Dunno if its fact just what I have heard.

If they are different?  Being not kindred blood or bred differently from same blood.....How So?
Wanting to know the main noticeable traits that differ....Good or Bad.

Posted this on another thread but its been getting stale and wanted the question to hit the right folks for comment. Not trying to offspin or be repetitive.

I know john ross registers foundation dogs, and what used to be the american blk mouth cur breeder dogs. Not sure if the folks with the foundation had different ideas/views n split n made their own or not. I guess i should hav asked mr ross that the other night, after talking for 2hrs.
This is a good question myles.

SBMCBA was founded by Howard Carnathan of Mooresville, MS. Though I'm sure his intention was to further his Bruno line of big, red BMCs . . it accepted lots of other lines, strains, etc. Randy Wright started off with a Carnathan bred dog or dogs . . but after he acquired Ben he peeled off and founded the Foundation Breeders deal. My understanding was that the original dogs there had to be Ben bred or at least approved by Wright in order to get in.

Howard Carnathan later left or was forced out of the SBMCBA and then formed the American Blackmouth Cur Registry . . and spent years promoting his A-B-C dogs (Ability, Brains, Conformation). Howard was quite a character when he was actively promoting his dogs and we went round and round on many occasions. But he was always well intentioned when it came to cur dogs . . he had a wealth of info and didn't mind proving it to you. He once gave me a 95 lb male dog named Chester and he spent countless hours on the phone telling me about old dogs and old breeders. Somewhere in these tubs and boxes of dog materials I have a handful of his monthly newsletters he mailed out to friends and ABC dog owners. The newsletters always had helpful tips on dog raising, training, etc . . . like this one I remember . . Hold your puppy's face up against the hot exhaust pup of a running car to teach them to avoid cars and trucks. LOL.

he originally used Bruno as the foundation stud in an attempt to create something called the Catahoula bulldog. then I later saw him chew some guy out for even mentioning something as ridiculous as a Catahoula bulldog. what a card. he sent me a handwritten pedigree on posterboard once. it contained dogs that were registered plotts he got from berlin king. it showed two or three kemmer gyps he got directly from Robert kemmer. I definitely remember him breeding to a leopard cow dog of some variety. and yes . . as you mentioned . . he borrowed a yellow July from Rex Bowers in Mocksville, NC. the dog was named Rowdy and I've heard more than one dog man say he was the best looking hound that ever lived. the last few times I spoke with him he didn't seem to care what a dog did . . he just let em run loose and would sit outside in the evening listening to em run whatever. he told me to my face in his living room that the last couple generations he produced had July in em. the dog in that picture above looks like it has a july head to me. but who knows. I saw a dominecker rooster the other day and guessed it was half dalmation. I truly miss howard being around.

The SBMBA is simply a registry. It works off the honor system as well as the other registry's and has many lines of BMC's within it. And yes there are a lot of FBMCBO dogs within this registry  and the UKC. Why? Because you can not bring any other dogs into the FBMCBO registry per there rules. So if you breed to a dog from another registry you will have to use another registry to record your pedigree. And there are other reasons too but I am not going there. With that being said the SBMBA has a good mix of many lines of BMC's within it.

Barlow wasn't the bruno dog Howard started with a quarter or half bulldog? Bruno was a Howard bred dog too I believe.

I heard him give different breakdowns on what he was, I believe it was some percentage of bulldog . . but it was 45 years ago or so and Bruno was just a dog for sale in someone's backyard.
