Headed to a friend's place a little while back, it was a different style of hunting for me.  Had 3 groups of folks out on a nice big ranch, turned out and my red gyp Rojo hauled to over a mile gone and I lost her for a while and my lil black gyp Brie went with her.  Tried to keep up with my buddy's dogs and the rest of mine, turned out Rojo ended up bayin a spotted sow by herself.  Some of the other guys that were hunting heard her, their dogs were by em and perked up, another dog started barkin and then then all those guys said they heard was a dog barkin and a whole lotta squealin!!  Their dogs rolled to the ruckus, guys got there and ol Rojo is caught solid on the sow with Brie bayin hard and the rest bayin with her.  They tie the hog and dogs leave out.  My friend's 10 yr old dog found and bayed a big barr by herself til the cd got there and guys stuck it, got what they could off it since it was in a pretty rough area for them to try to retrieve the whole thing.  My Bleu dog has been treed on garmin over a mile for about an hour now, garmin says crossed and recrossed the river a bunch.  Some of the guys had already headed that way to a bay, they got there and dogs had a good sow on the river bank.  They stuck it and started headin back to where we were.  Bleu doesn't show up and is still treed 900 yd out.  My friend and I head that way, im not doing so well cuz I was just getting over being sick (but I just COULDN'T stay home this day...).  He goes on ahead and sees Bleu laid down on the back, attached to a hog's face and that hog is laid down with him. Hog sees my friend walking up and gets a burst of energy and drags Bleu into the water , then they both go under and pop up with hog headed to opposite side and bleu back to our side.  His feet are all torn up and bleeding, guess the sand ate em up.  Hog ran back up river.  We start walkin back and hear dogs bayin but it sounds like they are on the other side so I hold bleu back.  Get closer and another friend of mine starts hollerin WHERE WERE YOU GUYS THERES A HOG RIGHT HERE!!!!  About 4 dogs followed them, they were coming to help us and im guessin that hog bleu had crossed back.  None of the dogs were catchin it so I turned tired bleu loose, that's when everything hit the water and bleu got another hold on the side of the face, got tug-boated to the other side and stayed caught while we watched from our side.  Got a little video but no action photos of this hunt Sad   We go to swim and hog pulls bleu with dogs on its rear back into the river, sees us comin to it and swims downriver.  Dog climbs on hog and bleu they go under, bleu comes up and we call him back.  Poor dog is wore out, don't know how long he was caught fightin that hog by himself.  Other dogs end up comin back and hog goes wherever....  Little disappointed we didn't get that one but cant get em all.  Couple groups of guys caught several more, so for the day we all had 12.  It was different for me because there were so many dogs bayin everywhere that if  you heard a bay you just went to it, your dogs or not.  My little Lb gyp poked her eye on a lemon tree t horn and it filled up with blood so I put her up.  it was a great hunt, wish I could've got some action pix!!
Rojo's sow

Friend's dog's barr

Another sow we got

This passed Saturday went to a friend's place in Navasota, turned loose and she rode her horse while my other friend and I rode a side by side (which SPOILS someone who is to walk-hunting!!!).  She leads us to where they see most of the sign, a whole ton of deer jump up about 150 in front of us.  Now, I have NOT KNOWN my dogs to run deer, so I wasn't too concerned, and they stared at em all perked up but just went back to hunting Smiley  my Lb gyp started winding, and I was like theres no way shes winding those dang deer!!  All my others are off doing their thing, Lb jumps into this creek and starts workin hard. She yaps twice, the heads out.  Brie meets her and the race is on, Girl my walker tries to find em but they are doing some circles and finally Girl just follows them step for step on the garmin.  Bleu is trying to get there, the 2 girls bay then quit bay then quit but never lose it.  The 3 girls finally bay in a spur off the creek, watchin bleu and he gets to em and trees.  I holler HE'S TREED, we haul a$$ to em and lo and behold stick the atv and need to winch it out.  Finally get to em, bleu is caught solid on the face of this hog, Lb is caught on the ear and brie and girl bayin to beat the band.  My friend has his cd with him, and turns him loose to get some experience.  He grabs then lets go and goes to the other side and regrabs, hog spins around and my buddy legs it, I grab the other leg and we pull it into a shallower location and I flip it and hobble it.  Break dogs off and go get the atv and winch the hog up and out.  Hog cut everything I had out except ol Bleu cuz he was vested.  Nothing major but Lb had a chest wound that looked worse than it was.  Placed some drain tubes in everything and theyre gonna be fine.  That was a damn good time!!

Haha, ya mike he's just a little rough, lol. I read in one of your posts some time back that around 2 yrs old these dogs usually back off some, so maybe he's a late learner  Wink  I tried not vesting him for a while but it doesn't matter he don't care, figured better off doing that than the alternative....

Thanks handle_it and travis, we had a blast.  Went out Wednesday in new waverly and dogs got on some, caught 3.  Silly me left my phone in the truck but 2 100#ers, a 30#er, and a tiny lil pig that im not even gonna count  Grin  every time out is a pleasure!!!
