as soon as they can walk good I start taking them to the woods and letting them just be young dogs in the woods [ getting woods wise ] and working on leading and loading and ect. ect. then it's off to a pen to introduce them to the game I'm after . once they know hogs I will break them from messing with cows and goats or them stinking sheep lol . and when I feel they are physically able to keep up with the grown dogs i'll start putting them in . you can start them on drags and a mock hunt or two at around 3 months old . hunting is one thing but having a handle and teaching them what NOT to bay is a lot of work and fun and begins very early in life . hope this helps .
the mans rite the sooner you get them working and in the woods the quicker you know what you got .
