Larry...I remember when you first announced that you were going to create a new line of dogs...been a long time ago and you have done just that...I really prefer the mt cur over most breeds but I am talking about the large leggy type with the good noses and good length of ear...but I see where to many look feisty looking and small and the larger ones sometimes are a little mouthy on track...so I have used your dogs to quiet the mt cur and at the same time maintain the range and hunt and the nose...some mt curs are pretty inbred as well as the parker from what I can see...my personal opinion...so that is why I decided to cross the two together but long range dogs are Ok but only if they can't stop one right away...so a little APBT I will add to hopefully put more teeth on the bigger runners at the first opportunity...

I also have seen where you have written about the 2 females you started out with...If I remember correctly you also mentioned that your original Blackie dog was one heck of a dog but it seems you did not know his background...that is what I remember you saying (if I remember correctly)and if that is true then I will say this about Blackie...it is possible that he was a Faulkner cur or a Stephens cur...this could be possible because both of these mt cur lines are supposed to have been some of the best curs around for bottom and the ability to located and bay/tree game...one of these breeds/strains was larger than the other and one was also used on bear on a regular basis...they are still around but don't hear much about them...

just wondering and wanting to get your thoughts on this...

first my opinion on crossing different type dogs with different type characteristics ....its  hard  hard to get a consistant offspring .... if  you breed a  pure  hound  to a  pure  cur for instance  more  than likely the pups  will lean  to one  side  or the  other and  if  you get the  inbetween  your  trying  to  get  what  you gonna  breed  it  too   too  make  it consitant ..... I feel it can be  done  but  will take  more  time and  money than most will spend ....   I bred  a pure mountain cur I owned  to a   brindle  ladner Catahoula crossed female and that is where blackie  came  from .....he  come out black with brindle  trim unlike his siblings witch were cat colored and  red ...... blackie as a throw back from here I can only guess i'd say a mountain cur line ....he was  an exceptional dog and  he liked  hogs  more than anything else although back in those  days  I used  him for  cattle  too and  he'd  tree a  coon  or  two ....... but later  in year he's  where  my thinking about dogs  having multiple  offspring in a  litter and a  female  being able  to have  pups  from different males  in a  single litter  with only the  mother being the common  parent  lends to throwbacks  ( BLACKIE )  so with that I set  out to  develope a  line  of  similar dogs with common characteristics and  eliminate  throwbacks if possible ...... i'm perty close to where I want  mine  they perty much all look the same witch that's a form of consistency  ..... the  rest  is  natural characteristics to hunt and like pigs ..... I perty much pick a real good  male  of  my stock now  and  try and  clone  him through breedings .....
