for the deer hunters in the central tx area, has the rut already happened? unless everything iv read, heard and seen for myself is false. i would think that the rut here around temple tx has either passed or has not happened yet. i checked my cam today and had daytime and night time pics with more than 1 buck feeding at the same time and none were spooked or ran off when another buck came in. on 1 pic, i had 3 bucks in 1 pic frame milling around together.

Charles I saw 2 different bucks chasing does yesterday morning, one of the does was very perceptive to the buck!

Thank ya jody. I had 2 bucks come in, or coulda been the same one, but i had some trails end doe urine out for the first time in my area n neither deer would commit to coming in bow range n eased out, not like they were spooked, but more like they knew something was off, but wasnt a get out of dodge alarming. Gonna try again in the morning. If i woulda had a rifle, i woulda 1 buck and a doe on the ground but a rifle is to much like cheating.
I left the scent wick out there in front of the trail cam so ill get some pics IF anything came on in later tonight. The wick being left out will allow them to come in on their n see that the new smell isnt a danger. Or so they will think  Evil  Grin

Came and gone in Salado at the ranch I run hunts on. Week before Thanksgiving, we had 12 bucks run the same doe. Next day counted over 15 bucks from the same stand running doe, mature bucks not the young sh it heads. Had a few doe acting froggy two weeks ago again, bucks locked up with them fast. I would say the main rut as come and gone. Might still get a few hot doe here and there but for the most part it is over with. all my bucks are back in groups of 2-4 with one group almost 8-10.

Thats what i was wanting to hear. Thanks mike n jody.

I figured it was over since 8-10 doe would be at the feeder at once n same for the bucks. The first week of my feeder being out (been out 3wks now) i had a mature 8 point n a young 6. Checked my cam last fri when i go back down here and had the same 2 bucks. Checked it yesterday just after lunch and had the same two bucks, plus a spike and either a bigger 8 or 10 point. The spike, 8 and the other bugger racked buck were feeding together tue night and wen morning.
Yesterday eavning, had the 8 and possibly the 6 come just out of range and then as shooting light was nearly gone, a yound doe was behind me n i spooked her when i lowered my bow n put my pack on.  All bc i didnt ck my 6 before making that lil bit of noise. I checked to see if there were anymore behind me and saw the 6pt 200yds away standing in the field.
Im hoping this morning is more in my favor, but i think this drizzling weather will keep them beded down.

Charles, I'm also in temple and it's seems to be over other than a few does here and there that haven't been bred. Seems to be intheir post rut patterns as the others and yourself have mentioned. Bucks and does both grouping back up.

I was just making sure i still understood the way deer interact. Its been 4yrs since iv done any hunting n wanted to make sure i wasnt rusted shut n forgot how to pattern and read deer in their environment.

Where u located at in temple? Im located in troy

Charles, I'm actually in Belton. Right off the highway where I-35 and 190 meet on the south side of Belton. One of my best hunting buddies lives on bottoms east and connection rd. Not far from you. I've also hunted with Randy Tate 2-3 times and he lives over there too. Small world.

Yup I've been by your house a hundred times. Every time I drive by that hog pen I always wonder who lives there and knew that obviously they hog dogged. Yeah both gentry and Tate are good guys. If not for gentry and another buddy of mine I probably wouldn't even be hog hunting. They really got me hooked on it and now I can't quit ! Lol!

Seems like they're just getting going good up here in Hunt CO. Starting to get cold again so I'm sure they'll be running em hard and acting stupid soon.
