I havent posted anything in a while because I have'nt caught anything worth posting. I've never had such a long run of sows, pigs and little boars as I did last year !! My friend Jerry and I Caught a really good Barr Saturday morning. The dogs struck him and he broke. They ran him for 4 hours before he finally stood his ground in a hole in a creek bank. Caught hog !! What made it even better was that he had my ear mark. I cut and release a lot of barrs every year but only re catch one here and there. It's nice to catch one that you barred. He did kill one of my best dogs, Pistol, and that sucked. Really going to miss that dog, I raised him from a pup out of my dogs and he found a lot of hogs for me over the last 5 years. We couldn't find the scales but I'm guesstimating him around 275, he was really fat and had 4 inches of fat on his back when we butchered him. Should make some good sausage !!   Pistol at 4 yrs old .  I don't have a young catch dog right now so I brought the old one eyed warrior "Bull" out of retirement since the weather was cool. He's 10 yrs old and hasn't caught a hog in 3 yrs. he swallowed an ear and sat down like he always did.  |

Great Barr hog. A Barr just shouldn't run that long, it's Un-American  I hate to hear about the dog, I hope you got some young dogs to try and fill his shoes. |
