To start with, this morning i went and checked on the pups as usual. Well one was missing. He was layed on and squished. Now these are 4 and a half week old pups. ?? But she must have layed just right or something because this pup had obviosly been squished. So i bury it. I go out and feed and water everybody. Walk down to the river and fish. Carry on with my weekend routine. I check them periodically when im home all day. Well i go back out there and theres a pup missing. Its nowhere to be found !!! We have a ton of hawks arpund here. How likely would it be that one swooped into the kennel, grabbed a pup and gone ? The mama is in there with them. Its like the pup just vanished. I walked all over the place looking. I know nobody stole it. Its hard to explain where i live but trust me nobody's coming back here. We are WAY WAY back in the woods. But anythings possible I guess. Anyway. Im pretty pissed off about this crappy chain of events that took place today. The one that was squished was promised to a good friend. I have the worst dang luck. Anyway how likely do yall think it is that a hawk could have gotten that missing pup ?

I thought about the mama eating it. But there would have been some sort of evidence of that. It was there less than an hour before. And i fed her so much that she still had food in her bowl. But i did look her over for blood and what not. But found nothing. Its like the pup just vanished. Beats all i ever saw. And the crazy thing is its just a 10x10 kennel. I know a hawk cant do a dive bomb into it and just be gone like they could in a field with a rabbit or whatever. I honestly think that if it was a hawk it would have to land on the kennel. Jump in and get the pup then fly out. And i dont think the mama dog would allow it..im puzzled as hell about it. They cant fit thorough the holes in the chain link either. Huh??

When u clean her pen next , check her stool for evidence of bone , hair etc. If stool is normal, pup got out or some other accident occurred. Hope u find the rascal safe and sound

Just got a call from the pup. Said she's tied up with a group of runners and wont be home till late. Haha..all jokes aside i found her down the hill in the woods. I cant for the life of me figure out how she got out. But i bet one wont get out again. I lined the bottom of the kennel with 2x10's. I'm glad i found her. I just heard what i figured was a bird hopping around down there but decided to check anyway. Its sposed to get very cold tonight. I doubt she would have made it through the night.

Yes ma'am these are those pups. And i still have that neat looking pup. Yeah when i realized one was missing right after i buried one i thought theres no freakin way !!  I looked all over the place. Down in the woods and everything. I dont know how i didnt see it. I spent some time searching. The only thing i could come up with was hawk. So then i was thinkin the hawk may have dropped it way off away from here. Broke leg, coyote dinner. Haha..i was mad..lol..but i fixed that ole pen. I try to take care of a litter the best i can. When stuff happens it bugs the crap out of me. The one that was squished was my good friends pick. He really liked that pup. Done brought his wife and kids to see it and all that good stuff...oh well...worse things have happened i guess.. just glad to have that one back. Its down below freezong tonight. I doubt she would have made it. I did put the blanket they were born on at the edge of the woods though.
